Cool! A new model from Centerfire, a J-Pole encased in PVC! Not too bad, especially for the price.

I have used the Centerfire 5/8 wave stainless whip base antenna before. It worked well for a good while at my house. Excellent SWR's. However, when I relocated it 400 feet from the Atlantic Ocean, it didnt hold up to the constant salt spray.

This one should work well in any environment due to the fact it is encased in PVC and has a drain hole.

For the price, it cant be beat. I would recommend Centerfire antennas to the person who is just starting out, would like a base but doesnt have a whole lot of money to invest. Its also good for those who want to just get their feet wet with first time base station setup.

Centerfire Antenna is a small one man business who hand makes all his antennas. He will bend over backwards to meet your needs too.

I ordered both a 5/8 MURS base and 5/8 GMRS base at the same time and he gave me a good deal. I still use the 5/8 MURS to this day on my house and it has been very respectable.

My opinion of Centerfire antennas: an outstanding entry level antenna with excellent matching characteristics at a rock bottom price.

You can either get it off eBay or order direct by going to www.centerfireantenna.com

Yes but what are the draw backs on a "non" ground plane antenna?..would it be db gain? or is there one?...this one is a non tune antenna too.

This is a type of antenna that does not need a ground plane. Although its looks are decieving, this is not a whip antenna. Whip antennas are the type that need ground planes.

This antenna is a J-Pole. I gets its name because of the way it looks if you were to see the straight copper as opposed to the PVC cover.
