Types of Information We Collect
You are free to browse the websites of Popular
Wireless Magazines without submitting any personal information. We do not
collect any of your personal information (such as a name, address or e-mail
address) when you visit the websites, unless you register or have registered to
use the Popular Wireless Magazines Personal Wireless Bulletin Board. As part
of the bulletin board registration process, you have the opportunity to decline
further promotional materials or other notifications from us. You also have the
right to remain anonymous through the use of a handle or moniker.
We have NO desire to collect, keep, or forward
any information about a child of any age. The PARENTS of children are
responsible for the Internet activities of their children. That includes
telling children what information they are permitted to reveal about themselves
in an open Internet message forum! The PARENTS are responsible for
determining whether participation at Popular Wireless Magazines is permissible
for THEIR children. We can't be there to see the child using his/her
keyboard, only the parent or guardian can do that. To the extent that we DEMAND
parents exercise their proper parental duty we have done our best to protect
the children that use the magazine bulletin board. We ASSUME that parents of
children are monitoring the on-line activities of their children and INDEED are
watching over their children's shoulders while those children are using this
magazine's bulletin board.
Registration on Our Site
Popular Wireless Magazines requires users who
want to participate fully (with all of the BBS fewatures including search) on
the message boards to register. In order to register, you must provide us with
a username (which does not have to be your real name), password and a valid
e-mail address. This allows us to protect our community from abusive postings
and provides a verifiable point of contact should legal questions arise. At any
time, you have the ability to keep your e-mail address hidden from other users
by selecting that option within your user profile. Bulletin board registration
also required that you decide whether or not we may send you an email message
from time to time regarding bulletin board activities. (Note in 12 years of
operation we have never send a system wide email. That's not to say that we
will not but just in case you make the decision whether or not you want to
receive the message.)
When you register, you have the option of
providing some additional information such as occupation, interests, date of
birth, membership in the PRA, whether or not you hold an Amateur radio or GMRS
license, and a home page URL. This optional information is made available to
other message board users in orer to foster a sense of community. If you
have any concerns about providing this information, simply leave the fields
blank and your registration will still be processed.
Also displayed with each message is the
ORIGINATING IP of the user who posted the message. This information is
generally not helpful to anyone except your Internet Service provider or law
enforcement. IP address retention discourages illegal uses of the bulletin
board system. It also helps us identify and report bulletin board
spammers.
ARE YOU UNDER 13 YEARS OF AGE?
You are allowed to participate in the Popular
Wireless Magazines forums, but you must have the permission of a parent or
guardian before doing so. You are considered a minor child. Your parents are
responsible for your education and your welfare. The bulletin board is a place
where adults meet to share information about various topics. None of these
topics are inappropriate for children; however, adults have no idea how old you
are when they respond to messages in the bulletin board. Your parent or
guardian should take the time to look over the bulletin board and determine
whether or not they want you to use it. That decision is not yours to make.
If a child user of the bulletin board misbehaves
that child will be expelled. If an adult misbehaves toward a child that adult
will be expelled. We will make every effort to notify an ISP of such conduct
and ask them to contact an adult Internet user responsible for the account. Any
user caught signing on with more than one username or having created a
fraudulent log on to hide their age is subject to expulsion.
Amateur radio is a topic discussed on the
bulletin board system. There is no age requirement for holding an Amateur
station license so young people are encouraged to join and learn in the Popular
Wireless Magazine community. Parents and guardians are encouraged to use the
bulletin board with minor children that have an interest in the topic.
Newsletter Subscription
Popular Wireless Magazines, may from time to
time, offer a subscription to a periodic newsletter regarding the magazine's

requested newsletter. You can "unsubscribe" to the newsletter at any
time by e-mailing unsubscribe@gmrsweb.com with the subject line
"NEWSLETTER UNSUBSCRIBE."

Changing or Updating Personal Information
If you would like to update or change your user
profile on the bulletin board, you can do so by clicking on Preferences.
E-Mail to the Magazine
We reserve the right to publish the email we
receive REGARDLESS of the content personal or otherwise. This means you
should take this into consideration if you plan to annoy, harass, threaten, or
otherwise irritate or intimidate anyone using a popularwireless, gmrsweb,
mursweb, or dougweb email address. Childish Internet threats, bizarre and
irritating behavior will not be tolerated.
GMRS Intruders/Illegal Behavior
Some members of this bulletin board are
activists. They seek out and turn in to the FCC those engaged in illegal
behavior associated with the Personal Radio Services they use. It is akin to a
grass roots neighborhood watch for the GMRS, FRS, MURS, CB and so on. This
means users will discuss in the PopularWireless Forums unlicensed GMRS
intruders on their local GMRS channels as well as items found on the Internet.
This can include pointing out retailers dealing in contraband radio equipment,
sick humorists jamming various radio services, and blatantly using or selling
non-certified radio equipment.
Postings on Message Boards
It is important for you to remain aware that
when you provide personal information (e.g., last name, address, phone number)
in a posting on any message board, that information is available to any other
person or user having access and use of that message board, and may be used by
someone in a manner unintended by you. For that reason, we discourage you from
offering any personally identifying information within a posting to any message
board should you be sensitive about who sees what..
