Consider a membership in the PRA if the
following issues concern you:
- Commercial GMRS piracy
- FCC GMRS enforcement
- Garmin Rino data broadcasts on FRS and
GMRS and other F2D emissions like the Hasbro text messaging toy for
children.
- GMRS licensing
- Excessive power on CB. Sales of
illegal radios and illegal power amplifiers.
- Abuse of FRS and interference to GMRS
by FRS. Illegal equipment on FRS. Modified radio equipment from other radio
services, including Amateur, for use on frequencies where it is not FCC
accepted.
- Interference to GMRS from foreign
shipping in US port cities. This problem is currently being worked by the PRA
with some limited success
PRA Membership
As of July 17, 2005 memberships were
being taken by regular mail and FAX. In September we added the ability to send
the application by mail. In the future, there will be an annual membership dues
requirement. All dues will go toward the costs of running the Association. Only
individual persons can be members of the PRA. There are no organizational
memberships though we do expect to ask repeater associations to participate in
the association in an advisory capacity while encouraging their members to join
up!
To become a member of PRA you must first fill a membership form and mail it or fax it. A link to the form is located below.
